LOOSE ENDS

Tying up the loose ends like so many times before
Once you think you’ve tied them all, you’ve loosened up ten more
Something plain and simple, like trying to make amends
Never seems to turn out right, tying up loose ends

Sifting through your own thoughts, leaving nothing incomplete
Soon enough you realize that’s not an easy feat
What was once a ribbon is now some tangled knots
You can’t always sort them out, sifting through your thoughts

Things will only come together when you turn away
No matter the time or the place, some truths are here to stay
You could be somebody real, not someone who pretends
If only you’d live your life and stop spending all your time
Tying up loose ends in your mind

I appreciate your concern but I think I’m doing fine
When they ask I’ll tell them that we were just good friends
I may not have a gift for telling lies, no skill at making amends
I may not have a gift for telling lies, but I can tie loose ends
